The Zayante Band-Winged Grasshopper
Zayante Band-winged grasshopper

The Zayante Band-Winged Grasshopper is the only grasshopper listed under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. It is endemic to the Santa Cruz Sandhills of California, and is known to exist in only five locations. The grasshopper continues to be threatened by habitat loss and degradation from unlawful human recreation and invasive plant species.
