Online presentation: Xerces' Conservation Director, Mace Vaughan, gave a lecture to the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) via the internet on May 10, 2007. This lecture details the importance, life history and conservation of crop-pollinating native bees, as well as information on how the NRCS is aiding in pollinator conservation in the U.S. Download a recording of Native Bee Conservation 101

Brochure: Farming for Pollinators (large file, approx. 2M). A summary of the habitat requirements of crop pollinators and where their habitat may be found in the area around a farm. To order copies, please contact us at info@xerces.org.

Fact sheets: Agroforesty Notes. An overview of how to provide habitat for crop-pollinating native bees in agroforestry settings. Currently, the first three of four issues are available.

Plant list: California Native Plants for Crop-Pollinating Bees (Central Valley). A list of the most important nectar or pollen plants for crop-pollinating native bees in California's Central Valley (based on field research conducted near Davis, California).

Fact sheets: The following three fact sheets provide detailed information on the unique relationships between each of these crops and their pollinators, lists of the most important native bees that visit each crop, and steps that can be taken to protect or enhance habitat for these vital pollinators. The content for each sheet is based on field research conducted by Dr. Claire Kremen (University of California, Berkeley), Dr. Neal Williams (Bryn Mawr College), Sarah Greenleaf (Sacramento State University), and Nikki Nicola.
