Celeste Mazzacano
Conservation Associate Celeste Mazzacano joined the Xerces Society in 2007 as a Conservation Associate, working with the aquatic program. A lifelong fascination with the beauty, diversity, and adaptations of insects, combined with a passion to share this fascination with others, led her to obtain a Ph. D. in entomology from the University of Minnesota in 1995. She has engaged in extensive research, teaching, conservation, and outreach, most recently in the areas of aquatic biomonitoring, native plant restoration, and adult natural resource education programs. She believes strongly in providing the public with knowledge, skills, and motivation to enhance and protect natural resources within their local communities. In her free time, she and her partner are looking forward to hiking and camping in the Pacific Northwest, as well as exploring opportunities for native plant gardening, hobby beekeeping and adding to their lifelist of butterfly sightings.
