Nancy is a partner biologist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s East National Technology Support Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, promoting habitat conservation using Farm Bill programs. She supports farmers, home gardeners, community gardeners, and educators working to protect, enhance, and create habitat for native bees, and other insects and wildlife. She studied native bees important for crop pollination for her Ph.D. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), and native grassland restoration at the University of Maryland. She has worked as an extension educator, field botanist, farm hand, and landscaper. A former Peace Corps volunteer in Tunisia, she was also a forest conservation intern with Cultural Survival in Petén, Guatemala.
