As a Wildlife Biologist and NRCS Trainer, Gary provides technical assistance on pollinator habitat management for southern New England. He also assists Xerces staff, partners, and landowners in accessing financial assistance under the Farm Bill to support habitat projects. Prior to joining the Xerces Society in the spring of 2022, Gary worked for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service for more than 25 years. His projects there included habitat management for many species of conservation concern, including pollinators, monarch butterfly, New England cottontail, and migratory songbirds. Gary holds a master's degree in wildlife biology from Virginia Tech, where he mapped habitat suitability for declining species in a small national park.
