Megan Westby joined the Xerces Society in 2022 as the Grants Specialist, and enjoys supporting the team through fundraising for Xerces' programs. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations and came to Xerces after many years of supporting local leaders reducing poverty in Rwanda. Megan began appreciating the global impact of insects at a young age after being introduced to the work of Rachel Carson, and credits a little free library for reigniting her interest in pesticide reduction with a well-timed copy of Silent Spring.
Megan lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and family pets. She enjoys catching (and releasing) insects with her niece and nephews, buying too many plants, and spending rainy days in the Columbia River Gorge.
