At present, approximately 20 milkweed species are available as seed to varying degrees, although availability varies widely by region. Milkweed seed is currently unavailable in several areas of the country where it is needed for restoration efforts and is in-demand from gardeners who want to do their part to save the monarch butterfly. The fact sheet from Monarch Joint Venture can be used by growers to find more information to aid them in growing native milkweeds, and can be shared with local nurseries and growers to encourage them to grow and sell native milkweed.
