Derek Shea

Derek holds a master's of science in biology from the State University of New York at Oneonta and a bachelor's degree in environmental science from Wells College. He brings more than 5 years of experience in biological research, restoration, and community engagement.

His recent work ranges from managing community science water quality programs and installing & maintaining continuous monitoring buoys to snorkeling rivers observing freshwater mussel populations. He is excited to be back working on Western mollusks after spending time in the DC area building community around river recreation and water quality. Outside of work, you may find him scuba diving or hiking the mountains somewhere.
